National Museum of Resistance and Human Rights

The National Museum of Resistance and Human Rights, located on the Place de la Résistance in Esch-sur-Alzette, covers a wide range of topics related to the Second World War period, including: the interwar period, life under the dictatorship and the repression, the reactions of the population, the Nazi structures, the concentration camps and the Holocaust, as well as the post-war period. A presentation of human rights and civil resistance completes the exhibition.
As part of Luxembourg Museum Days on 18 and 19 May 2024, the MNRDH is offering visitors guided tours, presentations and activities, amongst others in cooperation with Casino Luxembourg.

The mobile artwork of Casino Luxembourg – Forum d’art contemporain will be activated at the Musée National de la Résistance et des Droits Humains

Casino Luxembourg reaches out to audiences through an itinerant work of art Even if it’s not true, it’s well found (2023) by artist David Bernstein (born 1988; lives and works in Brussels and Amsterdam).
Through this work, Bernstein and then the mediators invite the participants to imagine a story around these sculptures and to complete it with personal anecdotes.

Come and discover the museum's brand new permanent exhibition. Featuring a new museography concept and covering an area three times the size of the previous one, it includes printed texts, a vast array of documents, photos and objects, mechanical devices, films and projections, infographics, interactive screens and audio testimonials. The trilingual permanent exhibition covers numerous topics related to the Second World War period, including: the interwar period, life under the dictatorship and the repression, the reactions of the population, the Nazi structures, the concentration camps and the Holocaust, as well as the post-war period. A presentation of human rights and civil resistance completes the exhibition.

Many photos, documents and objects from the museum's collection are on display in the new permanent exhibition. But where do all these exhibits come from? Most of them came to the museum thanks to donations. In our conference Behind the scenes at the museum: from donation to exhibition, we give you an insight into how the objects arrive at the museum, how they are archived and how they are finally presented in the exhibition.
„Tote bags“ painting workshops

Give your creativity free rein and come and paint tote bags with us. Everyone is welcome to join in, whether from a template, with a stencil or freehand. It's fun for young and old.
